Welcome to Chorus of the Comstock, Carson Valley's Own Barbershop Chorus!
The Chorus of the Comstock has been a registered chapter of the Barbershop Harmony Society (a.k.a. The Society for the Preservation and Encouragement of Barbershop Quartet Singing in America, or SPEBSQSA) for over 25 years. We are a fraternal organization of gentlemen who share the hobby of singing a capella music in the barbershop style. As a (501c3) non-profit organization, we perform both for the entertainment of the community as well as for our own pleasure. The Chorus of the Comstock provides a musical repertoire and the necessary vocal and performance training to support a performing Barbershop Chorus as well as several Barbershop Quartets.
Our membership is comprised of a wide variety of the community; doctors and carpenters, salesmen and computer systems engineers, business owners and government employees. Members come from as far away as South Lake Tahoe, California and Fernley, Nevada. Many of us are retired; many are not. We are all dedicated to our hobby of singing in good harmony and fellowship.

Our Director

B.J. Hill
B.J. Hill has been a part of the a cappella world in one fashion or another for 36 years. He has been a member of the Barbershop Harmony Society for 27 years, and an international medallist in the quartet "Special Feature." In his younger years in the Navy, he helped to form a small chorus on the US Navy base at Subic Bay in the Phillippines. Also, after "Special Feature" split up, he sang for 6 years with the 5 part a cappella group "Tune Ami" in and around Reno, NV.
B.J. started singing in the Fullerton CA chorus at the ripe old age of 14 in Fullerton, CA while in high school. He was Assistant Director in both the Palomar Pacific(Oceanside, CA) and Saddleback Valley(Mission Viejo, CA) chapters of the Barbershop Harmony Society.
Presently, while directing the Chorus of the Comstock on Thursdays, B.J. has been the Bass Section Leader for the Reno Silver Dollar Chorus on Tuesdays. Finally, the few years that B.J. was not singing in the a cappella genre, he and a friend wrote and produced a Contemporary Christian Rock CD.
